Electrical Fire Fills Bedford Nursing Home with Smoke

A large number of Bedford firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to reports of a fire Thursday evening at a nursing home on Forest Ridge Drive.

Officials said a backup generator at the Heartland Nursing Home caused a small fire that produced a lot of smoke inside the building.

All 70 residents of the home are safe and unharmed, fire officials said.

The smoke filled the kitchen, so meals for the residents will be brought in Thursday night.
