Escaped Texas Inmate Found in Nebraska

A fugitive Texas prison inmate has been captured in Omaha, Neb., five days after his escape from a state prison.

A statement posted on the Texas Department of Criminal Justice website says federal marshals captured 27-year David Puckett Monday night at a female friend's apartment.

The statement says Puckett jumped from a second-story window in a failed bid to elude the marshals but was not injured.

Puckett is believed to have suffered cuts and wounds to his upper body while scaling a fence with razor wire during his escape from the Stiles Unit in Beaumont on Wednesday evening.

Puckett was serving 30 years for aggravated assault of a police officer in Lavaca County, about midway between Houston and Corpus Christi. He has been in the prison system since February 2002.
