Driver Facing Warrants Leads Fort Worth Police on Pursuit

A driver with six warrants for his arrest is in custody after police said he led officers on a chase early Tuesday through Fort Worth.

Police said a silver four-door Kia was driving at about 4:30 a.m. along the 2500 block of Kearney Avenue without its headlights on, so an officer turned on his overhead emergency lights and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

The Kia didn't immediately pull over, and it then ran a stop sign, so the officer then turned on the patrol car's siren.

That's when the Kia accelerated and continued through a red light at the service road of Northeast Loop 820 and Mark IV Parkway, police said.

At one point, the Kia crashed and a female passenger got out of the vehicle before the Kia continued south on Mark IV Parkway before coming to a final stop at 2300 Northeast Parkway, police said.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Gabriel Cuellar, was arrested and faces a charge of evading arrest along with the six warrants, which weren't detailed.

The female passenger was not charged, and no injuries were reported.
