The City of DeSoto is celebrating the grand opening of a new heliport Wednesday.
The DeSoto Heliport on East Danieldale Road includes a terminal, a public and private hangar and a self-serve fuel farm.
The heliport will serve public safety personnel, emergency medical crews, broadcast news media and corporate businesses.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 5 p.m.
The heliport is the result of a funding partnership between the City of DeSoto, DeSoto Economic Development Corporation, the Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division and fixed base operator, SKY Helicopters, Inc.
