Dallas Police Department officials said the 23-year-old missing person they were looking for Tuesday was lying about his name.
Police originally said they needed the public's help locating Derric Thompson. They listed him as a Critical Missing Person and said they considered him suicidal.
After further investigation, police said they learned the man's real name is Waymond Sims, Jr.
Officers arrested Sims after learning he had an outstanding warrant for probation violation, police said.
