Dallas Home Builder Sentenced for Defrauding Insurance Companies

A Dallas home builder of Park Cities Development, Inc. was sentenced Thursday  by U.S. District Judge Barbara M. G. Lynn, announced Acting U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas.

Edward Adrian Abraham, 56, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $252,078 in restitution for defrauding insurance companies.

Abraham pleaded guilty in April 2014 to one count of wire fraud, and he has been in custody since his arrest on related charges.

Documents filed in the case stated that from February 2009 through at least July 2009, Abraham devised and executed a scheme to defraud insurance companies with fraudulent insurance claims based on false claims of building materials allegedly stolen from two job sites in Dallas. One site is on Amherst Avenue and one is on Drane Drive.

Abraham filed false police reports to support the fraudulent insurance claims and caused false and fraudulent invoices to be created and sent to insurance companies to support the claims.

Abraham admitted that no building materials were stolen from either location. Because of the false and fraudulent invoices, he received $247,078 in proceeds from the insurance companies.
