DPD Gives Dangerous Apartments an Ultimatum

Police department IDs city's most crime-ridden complexes

The Dallas Police Department has identified the city's most dangerous apartment complexes and warns that they must improve or face fines.

Thirty-one complexes, including one in an area targeted by a gang sweep in February, make up the list of places that pose a high crime risk for residents.

"We are identifying those problems," Lieutenant Herbert Ashford told WBAP.  "Once we identify them, we meet with those property managers and then we come up with a plan."

Part of the DPD's solution is to require the apartment managers to enforce trespassing rules and offer crime watch meetings.
