Clerk Injured in Convenience Store Shootout

A Dallas convenience store clerk was wounded in a shootout with armed robbers late Wednesday, police say.

The clerk at the One Love convenience store on Lakeland Drive told the Dallas police that three people entered the store at about 10:45 p.m. and selected a few items for purchase.

As the items were placed on the counter, one of the three pulled out a gun and pointed it at the clerk.

The clerk, whose name has not been released, said the shooting started after he moved out of the way and reached for his own handgun.

The store clerk was hit once and collapsed in the doorway as the three ran from the scene. It is not known if any of three were shot in the exchange.

When police arrived they found the clerk on the ground being treated by paramedics.  He was transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas in an unknown condition.

A detailed description of the armed robbers has not been provided.
