$25,000 Cashier's Check Dropped in Texas Red Kettle

A generous soul has slipped a $25,000 cashier's check into a Salvation Army red kettle in Southeast Texas.

Salvation Army Capt. Mark Jacobs said Friday that the anonymously donated check was found in a red kettle in Galveston.

In recent years, generous donors have left large sums, rings and gold coins in Salvation Army kettles.

A surprise gift was left in a Salvation Army kettle for the second year in a row.

The Galveston County Daily News reports the check turned up Wednesday in a red kettle near a drug store. Officials aren't sure who left the check but welcome the money.

Jacobs says the funds will be used for Salvation Army services in Galveston County.
