2 SAE Fraternity Members Arrested for Assault in Austin

Police say two fraternity members at an Austin college were arrested for assault after an annoyed neighbor asked the group to turn down music that had been playing all night.

Authorities said the arrests occurred during an annual, weekend-long recruiting event called Round Up for fraternities at the University of Texas at Austin.

Officers said they responded to a Saturday night party hosted by Sigma Alpha Epsilon after receiving noise complaints.

According to an arrest affidavit, police saw the neighbor in the street, surrounded by five men shouting and closing in around him.

Some men had then begun punching and kicking the neighbor.

The chapter's president told KVUE in a statement that the organization isn't able to comment on the incident, but that it takes "this matter very seriously."
