1 Hurt in Crash of Small Plane Near Ranger, Cause Sought

Authorities say one person has been hurt when a small airplane crashed during a flight from Abilene to Stephenville.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the single-engine plane was near Ranger on Monday night when the aircraft went off radar. Radio contact was also lost.

The FAA says the pilot used a cellphone to report that the Piper, also carrying a passenger, had crashed near Ranger. That's about 75 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says one person on board suffered a broken arm. Officials did not immediately say whether the injured person was the pilot or the passenger.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
