San Francisco-based singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson brings his intense, introspective pop to Dallas' House of Blues on Friday night.
Nathanson is touring in support of his sixth studio album, Some Mad Hope, a chronicle of the course of a relationship.
"I definitely think of the album as capturing the arc of a relationship," said Nathanson. "It starts out on a positive note and it goes to some really dark places. But after touching bottom, there's a sense of optimism in the end. Maybe coming from a realization that two people can be a team, not just two individuals who happen to be together ... In a lot of ways, the album is about learning what a relationship really can be."
Nathanson's stop in North Texas comes about half-way through his fall tour with New Jersey's smoky-voiced Jessie Baylin, who is out in support of her debut album Firesight. Read a full review of Baylin's debut release here.
The House of Blues is located at 2200 N. Lamar Street in downtown Dallas. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Get ticket information here.
