The Dallas Mavericks traded 7-foot center DeSagana Diop to the Charlotte Bobcats for guard Matt Carroll and center Ryan Hollins.
Friday's trade gives Bobcats coach Larry Brown a rugged defensive specialist with limited offensive skills. The 26-year-old Diop is averaging just 1.6 points and 3.5 rebounds a game.
Carroll's departure alleviates a logjam of wing shooters on Charlotte's roster and gives the Mavericks an extra 3-point specialist.
The 7-foot Hollins played limited minutes for Charlotte.
