Man Dies After House Fire in Richardson

A passerby saw the home on fire and called 911

A 37-year-old man is dead after a house fire in Richardson Friday night.

The house on Merrie Circle caught fire around 10 p.m.

Domino's delivery driver Waqas Javed said he saw smoke and called 911.

"I just tried to run to the house to take somebody out, but the fire is too much I cannot handle it and then suddenly I called 911," Javed said.

With flames as tall as treetops, Javed said the fire looked as if it was starting to spread.

He began to bang on neighbors doors to get them outside.

"All the neighbors were home. Everybody's sleeping inside the homes. Nobody knows what's going on," he explained.

Firefighters put the fire out quickly and get the resident out of the burning home.

The man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but later died.

"I feel so bad," Javed said.

Investigators were still trying to determine what started the fire as of Saturday afternoon.

The home suffered extensive damage.

NBC 5 is not releasing the victim's name because his next of kin have not been notified.
