Woman Faked Nursing License, Assaulted Patient at Elder Care Facility, Collin County Officials Say

A woman who worked as a nurse in an assisted care facility faked her license and assaulted a patient, according to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the Collin County Sheriff's Office, officials said Monday.Glenda Basanes, 44, was booked into the Collin County jail June 28. She remained in the Collin County jail Monday, with bail set at $62,500.Basanes faces charges of assault causing bodily injury, injury to a disabled person, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of nursing regulation violations.Collin County sheriff's deputies were informed June 24 that an elderly woman had been assaulted at an assisted care facility in Lucas. The sheriff's department has not publicly identified the facility.Investigators said that while they were following up on the assault they realized Basanes was pretending to be a licensed nurse.Authorities said that when they arrested Basanes, they found drugs and $50,000 in counterfeit cash.  Continue reading...
