With Out-of-state Help, Oncor Makes a Dent in Restoring Power After Sunday’s Storms

Three-quarters of the Oncor customers who lost power in Sunday’s violent windstorm have electricity again, but more than 71,000 remain in the dark.Utility officials are optimistic most of the people who haven’t been reconnected will be taken care of by late Wednesday. However, Oncor said residents of some especially damaged areas may have to wait until the next day.Almost all of the outages were in Dallas County. After focusing on hospitals and 911 call centers, crews have been restoring power in densely populated areas with community centers and shopping malls. About 1,500 Oncor employees and 500 contractors have been joined by about 2,400 workers from 11 other states, as well as hundreds of workers from elsewhere in Texas.  Continue reading...
