Wisconsin Chicken Processor to Bring 800 Jobs to New Plant 50 Miles East of Dallas

Brakebush Brothers Inc., a chicken processor that earned accolades this year as Wisconsin's family business of the year, will build a new 315,000 square foot processing plant about 50 miles northeast of Dallas in GreenvilleThe plant is expected to create 800 jobs in Greenville's Park West industrial park. Brakebush also operates a 142,000 square foot facility in Irving.The Texas Enterprise Fund has offered Brakebush a $780,000 grant to assist in the business expansion, according to a statement from Gov. Greg Abbott.The 92-year-old maker of chicken products is in the midst of a $40 million expansion to its largest facility, a 500,000 square foot processing plant in Westfield, Wisconsin. Brakebush produced more than 275 million pounds of products in 2016, and its sales grew by more than 250 percent in the last five years.Its products range from chicken nuggets and filet sandwiches to wings and ready-to-cook dinners. It sells to restaurants, colleges, schools, hospitals, convenience stores and the military.Carey Brakebush, the company's vice president of facilities and transportation, said in a statement that Brakebush considered several states for the new plant."The pro-business environment, the strength of the labor force and the quality of the site on which we will build this state-of-the-art processing facility all contributed to our decision to choose Greenville," he said.Greenville Mayor David Dreiling touted the positive economic impact of adding 800 jobs, bolstering the city's industrial tax base and providing a new customer for the city-owned electric utility.  Continue reading...
