Why DISD Parents Shouldn't Wait to Sign Their Kids Up for pre-K

Dallas ISD's enrollment drive to get more students enrolled in pre-K is paying off.More than 8,000 kids have already applied for the next school year -- and nearly 7,000 of them are already verified and enrolled, three months earlier than last year. Signing up early helps ensure spots in the schools parents want.The district appears well on its way to meet or exceed last year's record 11,000-student mark.It's a positive sign for the district -- and the entire city -- that more parents recognize that pre-K can give their kids the boost they need for success now and throughout their academic careers.Not only are kids twice as likely to be ready for kindergarten if they're in a quality program, but they are three times as likely to be reading on grade level by third grade.
