Someone asked me recently whether I thought Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would be ashamed of the racial inequities that persist in Dallas, nearly half a century after his death.The more important question, though, is whether Dallas will ever be ashamed?The "What Would King Say?" question is an intellectual exercise that teases our brains for a day but leaves the work undone.Not only would King be deeply perturbed by the vast economic, educational and social strife still plaguing urban centers like Dallas, he'd be appalled by our complacency.
