Two Texas Republican Congress Members Back New Obamacare Repeal Effort

WASHINGTON -- A pair of Texas Republicans are joining a call for the House to force an Obamacare repeal.The discharge petition, filed on Friday by the conservative House Freedom Caucus, requires a simple 218-vote majority to push a floor vote on a two-year Obamacare repeal -- with no replacement -- as early as September.Tyler Rep. Louie Gohmert and Austin Rep. Roger Williams applauded the measure, arguing that House Republicans should heed President Trump’s calls for Congress to stay focused on dismantling the Affordable Care Act.Although it has previously passed both chambers, a similar repeal measure recently failed in the Senate as part of Republicans’ botched attempt to pass new legislation.  Continue reading...
