Sign up for our newsletters here.Thousands expected to rally against white supremacy in downtown Dallas on SaturdayActivists are planning a rally against white supremacy Saturday evening near the Confederate War Memorial in Dallas.The protest is planned from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Pioneer Park next to City Hall and will feature a number of speakers from various local activist groups, according to a Facebook page for the event.Counter-protesters are expected, but Mayor Mike Rawlings said police will be prepared to take action if any violence breaks out."We will not have street brawls in our city," he said.Rally organizer Eric Ramsey told WFAA-TV (Channel 8) that he was expecting as many as 3,000 people at the event, which was planned as a response to the deadly white supremacists-planned protest in Virginia.Texas Politics: North Texas congressional leaders on Wednesday said white supremacy had no place in America, and they pledged to help bridge the nation's racial divide.Texas Legislature: A Dallas lawmaker wants the Confederate plaque outside his office removed “immediately.”  Continue reading...
