Texas Police Officer Charged With Human Smuggling

A Brownsville officer is facing human smuggling charges, according to documents obtained by ValleyCentral.com.Officer Valerie Rivas told immigration officials she was searching for her boyfriend of 12 years in the sand dunes on Padre Island National Seashore in South Texas on Feb. 26, the station reported.Rivas had made arrangements to pick up her boyfriend, identified by ValleyCentral.com as undocumented immigrant Alfredo Salazar-Hernandez, in Victoria after he had been smuggled into the U.S., the station reported.
