Texas Kindergarten Teacher Accused of Raping Student Who Said He Did ‘nasty Things' to Her

A Central Texas kindergarten teacher is accused of rape after a 6-year-old student told authorities that he did "nasty things" to her.Thomas Lloyd Cannon, 41, was arrested Friday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, Killeen police said. He is being held at the Bell County jail, with bail set at $500,000.Authorities were notified Wednesday after a student at Iduma Elementary School in Killeen made an outcry.According to an arrest-warrant affidavit obtained by the Killeen Daily Herald, the girl said that Cannon did "nasty things to me and my friend." She said the acts included intercourse.Police are investigating whether there are more victims.Killeen ISD Superintendent John Craft said in a statement that Cannon was removed from his classroom and is not allowed to return to the school during the investigation."We strongly condemn the alleged misconduct and will never allow any teacher or other KISD employee to behave inappropriately with students," Craft said. "If the allegations of misconduct in this case are true, we will support the strongest possible action against the teacher."It was unclear how long Cannon had worked at the school.
