Garland ISD officials are trying their best to move on from recent turmoil in the classroom and boardroom that included the awkward Dec. 20 departure of its superintendent, by pounding away at a "students first" message. In addition to discord between elected and staff leaders, GISD campus leadership changed at unprecedented rates and, some say, the district has lost some of its best teachers. In her first message as interim superintendent, Deborah Cron told the executive council and staff that the most important process in the district was the education that goes on daily in its classrooms.
