Sign up for our newsletters here.Four officers facing prison time in sexual misconduct scandal at state youth lockupAt least four staff members at the Gainesville State School, including a woman allegedly pregnant with a youthful offender's child, are facing prison time amid allegations of sexual misconduct at the state lockup for troubled youths. Since July, one former officer at the school has been convicted of improper sexual activity with a person in custody, two others have been arrested on similar charges and a fourth officer is expected to be arrested soon, according to an email the Texas Juvenile Justice Department sent Monday to lawmakers and legislative leaders. The Dallas Morning News obtained a copy of the email, which the agency sent after questions by the newspaper regarding reports of sexual misconduct at the Gainesville youth lockup.The recent sexual misconduct comes amid agency struggles to adequately staff its lockups statewide and a decade after the Texas juvenile corrections agency was roiled by a 2007 sex scandal in which at least 13 boys were abused.  Continue reading...
