Search on for Texas Man Swept Away in Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park

A 19-year-old Texas man was swept downstream Sunday while swimming with friends in the Rio Grande River in Big Bend National Park. Rene Cervantes, Jr. was swimming in the river about 1:15 p.m. near the Hot Springs when he was swept away, the park said in a written statement. An inter-agency search was conducted Sunday by boat, helicopter and ground of the Hot Springs Canyon and Boquillas Port of Entry, but Cervantes was not found. The search was expanded Monday morning to include the National Park Service boats, canoes and kayaks, and a Customs and Border Protection helicopter.   Continue reading...
