One Man Killed Trying to Assist at Wreck Site as Subaru Collides With Jeep on North Dallas Tollway

One man trying to assist at the scene of a wreck was killed when a vehicle came along and crashed into another Friday morning on the Dallas North Tollway.The wrecks happened around 2:37 a.m. on the tollway near Forest Lane in North Dallas, a DPS spokesman said. The first occurred when a Jeep Wrangler heading north on the Tollway crashed into a concrete barrier. Two men in a black Nissan passing through the area got out of the car to assist the Jeep driver when a white Subaru Legacy did not slow down as it approached and crashed into the Jeep, DPS spokesman Lonny Haschel said.One of the men who arrived in the Nissan was killed at the scene, while the other was taken to Parkland Hospital with serious injuries, Haschel said. The driver of the Jeep was taken to Parkland with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.A third occupant of the Nissan wasn't hurt, Haschel said. The Subaru and the Jeep caught fire after the crash, Haschel said, and the Subaru's driver was arrested and could face a charge of driving while intoxicated.Northbound lanes on the Tollway remained closed for several hours after the crash.  Continue reading...
