Mother Dies, Young Child Burned in ‘suspicious' Fire at Plano Apartment Complex

A woman died and her young child was injured in a fire at a Plano apartment complex.Plano Fire-Rescue said the fire started about 4:45 p.m. Monday at the Villas of Preston Creek apartments in the 6900 block of Preston Road, near Legacy Drive, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reports.The woman was taken in serious condition to Medical City Plano, where she died Tuesday morning, WFAA-TV (Channel 8) reports.Her 6-year-old son was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital. His current condition is not known.Authorities told WFAA that the fire was "suspicious" and that they were obtaining a search warrant for the apartment.  Continue reading...
