Man Hit by DART Train in Downtown Dallas, Officials Say

A man was injured when he was struck by a DART light-rail train in downtown Dallas on Tuesday afternoon.DART officials confirmed that a man was hit by the train near the Pearl/Arts District Station and was taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported. The man's name and condition were not released.David Smith said he saw the man — a police officer — disappear under the westbound train, which was ringing its bell when it hit him. The officer had been wearing headphones, Smith said.Smith said he crossed the tracks and crawled under the train to sit with the man until help arrived.Dallas police call logs show an assist-officer call was made near the station at 12:48 p.m.DART temporarily suspended light-rail service downtown after the incident and was providing shuttle buses.  Continue reading...
