Hurricane Harvey Pummeled the Houston Arts District, But Like a Fighter, Its Resilience Remains

Hurricane Harvey inflicted an estimated $75 billion in damage on Houston. Little was spared. Damage to the city's downtown arts district was substantial. In the savagery of its magnitude, it was also unprecedented.The renowned Alley Theatre narrowly escaped damage to its main-stage Hubbard Theatre, but its smaller space in the downstairs Neuhaus Theatre and its lower-level lobby crested with floodwater. Electrical systems for both were immersed.The Alley canceled all remaining performances of Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps.
