Former Fort Worth Police Chief's Firing Was ‘invalid,' Attorney Claims

Fort Worth's city attorney on Thursday rejected former police Chief Joel F. Fitzgerald's demand for a public hearing about his firing, saying he'd failed to invoke that right on time. Fitzgerald's attorney, Stephen Kennedy, demanded the hearing in a letter to city attorney Sarah Fullenwider, calling the termination "invalid" because officials allegedly violated the city charter. Fitzgerald had the right to a public hearing before he was terminated but instead was fired in a memo from the assistant city manager, Kennedy said.   Continue reading...
