Farmers, Vendors Keep Grand Prairie Market Square Cooking

Back in 2010, Grand Prairie debuted its Market Square, a terrific facility with cooling overhead fans for its weekly farmers market. What a change from the old parking lot digs.Today the heart of the market is the pavilion, where two farmers, Cadenhead Farms from Angus and Rowdy Heddins from Canton, sell at long tables topped with red-and-white-checkered tablecloths. They grow most of what they sell, from tomatoes to squash, and get a little outside help with items like strawberries and table grapes.Stalk some real treasures among the dozen or so little-guy vendors, from Cupcake Lodge with its sweet and savory offerings, including popular pancakes-and-bacon flavor, to wonderfully flavorful pork sausage and brats from Berkshire Pork Farms, a relative newcomer that also sells at the Dallas, Farmers Branch and St. Michael's farmers markets.  Continue reading...
