DMN Architecture Critic Mark Lamster, Texas Writer Lawrence Wright Among Finalists for Major Book Award

New Yorker staff writer Lawrence Wright's examination of the influence of Texas political culture and Dallas Morning News architecture critic Mark Lamster's biography of Philip Johnson are among the finalists for the 2018 National Book Critics Circle Award.Wright's God Save Texas: A Journey into the Soul of the Lone Star State competes in the nonfiction category against books about the Mexican border, the CIA in Afghanistan and Pakistan, U.S. corporate culture and the coddling of young people on college campuses. Born in Oklahoma City, the Austin-based author and screenwriter spent his teen years in Dallas and is a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.  Continue reading...
