Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi got permission from the City of Frisco Tuesday to buy nearly four acres of city-owned land at a cut rate in exchange for a commitment to build a 300-room full-service hotel. With no discussion and by unanimous vote, the Frisco City Council approved a plan to sell 3.7 acres to Northland Developments Texas Inc. for the development of a Sutton Place hotel. That Canadian-based brand is part of Gaglardi's Sandman Hotel Group. It could be the first Sutton Place hotel in the U.S. and the land would cost Northland $1.13 million.The land is part of a 14.5 plot the City of Frisco and the Frisco Community Development Corporation jointly own at the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Ikea Drive.
