Here is what you need to know to start your day.City Hall may create a new retirement plan instead of saving Pension SystemWhile the effort to save the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System continues, city officials offered a proposal Wednesday that might not save it at all. Chief Financial Officer Elizabeth Reich told Dallas City Council that a new retirement system could be created called the Safety Employees Retirement Fund, offering a transfer to the new program for all active employees.The new plan would include traditional pension benefits in addition to a 401k plan with a 5 percent city match.
