D-FW Near Top of List of Busiest Office Building Markets

Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin have made it on a new list of cities expected to have the most suburban office construction in 2018.The D-FW area ranked second behind the San Francisco Bay in a forecast by Yardi Systems Inc.D-FW is expected to have more than 5 million square feet of suburban office buildings completed next year.Only San Francisco Bay area - with 5.9 million square feet - has more in the development pipeline.Austin is third in the country with just over 2 million square feet lined up for completion in 2018."If we look at the total office square footage forecasted for 2018 by location class, we can see that suburban offices will provide the largest amount of new space, with nearly 35 million square feet scheduled for delivery," Yardi analysts say. "On a national level, 347 buildings totaling close to 75 million square feet of new office space are on track for delivery next year, 47 percent of the total pipeline being located in suburban areas."More than a dozen D-FW area office buildings are set to open their doors in 2018.
