Cartel Member Wanted in Southlake Lawyer's Murder Is Arrested in Mexico

A drug trafficker accused of funding the hunt for a cartel lawyer who was gunned down in Southlake four years ago has been arrested in Mexico by authorities there, according to Mexican media reports.Luis Lauro Ramírez Bautista was involved in the search for Juan Jesús Guerrero Chapa and helped finance the effort, U.S. prosecutors have said.Guerrero Chapa, 43, was an influential lawyer for the Gulf cartel and a U.S. drug informant. He was shot and killed at Southlake Town Square in May 2013. Three men were convicted last year in federal court in Forth Worth of stalking Guerrero Chapa and leading the killers to his whereabouts. But the shooter and getaway driver have not been found, nor has the Mexican drug cartel boss who ordered the hit.Mexican federal police arrested Ramírez Bautista earlier this month during the search of two homes, according to Reforma, a Mexican newspaper.  Continue reading...
