Al Día Editor Alfredo Carbajal Takes Over as President of National Group

Al Día managing editor Alfredo Carbajal will assume the top leadership post this week for the American Society of News Editors.The editor of The Dallas Morning News' Spanish-language newspaper, Carbajal becomes the group’s president with two major newsroom challenges in mind: to help journalists better connect with audiences who rely on digital news and to better reflect society’s diversity."We owe it to our audiences,” Carbajal said, “to be the one institution that plays that role to be the watchdog of accountability and community connectors in the society.”While managing his duties in Dallas, he’s also served as ASNE's treasurer and vice president, ascending the leadership ladder for the group."We're honored that the new ASNE president is one of our own,” said Mike Wilson, editor of The News. “Now the whole industry will benefit from Alfredo's innovative and ethical leadership."  Continue reading...
