22-year-old Dies Hours After Appearing OK at Scene of 18-wheeler Crash in Red Bird

A 22-year-old died after he failed to stop at a flashing red light and got struck by an 18-wheeler in Red Bird overnight, police said.The man, who has not yet been identified, was driving a 2012 Chevy Impala southbound on the Marvin D Love service road just before 1:20 a.m. Friday. He didn't stop at a flashing red light at an intersection and was struck by an 18-wheeler traveling eastbound at Redbird Lane, Dallas police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez said. The 22-year-old Impala driver appeared to be OK at the scene, but was transported by Dallas Fire-Rescue to a hospital for precautionary reasons. He died there at 5:45 a.m. due to internal bleeding, Gutierrez said. The second passenger in his car was transported to the hospital with a fractured hip.  Continue reading...
