Ladies, grab your husband's credit cards, and single gals, prepare to splurge, because the coveted once-a-year sample sale at Abi Ferrin's studio is fast-approaching.
Not only is Friday's sale a chance to scoop up an original piece by the Dallas-based designer, it's a chance to meet Ferrin. She may even style you if you ask her nicely.
Ferrin is a very "hands-on" designer. She is approachable, down-to-earth -- a gal's gal, if you will. She loves to see her clients looking their sassy-classiest-best. Does the world really need another pompous designer wielding a fan like a razor blade, cutting other people down? We think not! Embraced by fashionistas, Ferrin is a West Coast darling who isn't short on Southern charm.
Part of her charm is the fact that she's an environmentalist who is using her success to shed light on the plight of the indigenous people of the South American rainforests. She recently was a guest of the former Ministery of Fisheries, Jorge Campos, in the Republic of Costa Rica.
"My collection for New York Fashion Week in September is inspired by the OSA rainforest. I'm employing women who live in the rainforest and the government is buying their sewing machines to help out," said Ferrin.
Some people design for applause, Ferrin designs for a cause. Take advantage of her sample sale this weekend. It's a once-in-a-year opportunity to pick up an original outfit and use your green to "go green."
