A Drag Queen Christmas

A TRAILER PARK CHRISTMAS: Head to the strip for Edna Jean’s 42nd Annual Trailer Park Christmas party at JR’s Bar and Grill. Ring in the holidays with singing drag queens and drink specials including $2 wells and $3 calls. Proceeds from the event benefit Sam Houston Elementary, JR’s adopted local charity. 10 p.m.

‘TIS THE SEASON: The Dallas Arts District is lighting up the season with holiday cheer and a tree lighting ceremony. Free admission from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. is offered at the Dallas Museum of Art’s First Tuesday event and the Crow Collection of Asian Art. Knock out some shopping with a 10 percent discount at the DMA, Nasher Sculpture Center and Crow Collection museum stores. Bundle up for carriage rides and various musical performances. OLD SCHOOL FLICK: The historic and newly re-opened Texas Theatre will be screening Harold and Maude, the 1971 dark comedy about a young man obsessed with death who crashes funerals and develops a relationship with an 80-year-old woman. The film didn’t get much attention when it first premiered, but it is now a cult favorite. $8, 7 p.m.

OPEN MIC NIGHT: La Grange is hosting open mic nights every Tuesday, offering a chance for singer/songwriters to perform. Ease your stage fright with 50 percent off select menu items, $2 drafts and $3 bottles. The shows are booked beforehand, and you can sign up via their Facebook event page. 7-11 p.m.
