The Texas Rangers have recalled outfielder Michael Choice from Round Rock and optioned left-hander Alex Claudio to the Triple-A team.

With the moves before Wednesday's game against Oakland, the Rangers had an extra bench player with outfielder Shin-Soo Choo still improving from back spasms and utility player Adam Rosales feeling ill.

Choo was out of the lineup for the second game in a row, though manager Jeff Banister said he could "be a bat of the bench for us" late in the game.

Choice hit .400 with 10 RBIs and seven runs his last 11 games at Round Rock, and is hitting .242 overall this season.

Claudio is 1-1 with a 2.87 ERA in 18 appearances over two stints with the Rangers this season.
