Bonilla Set for Second Start

Because of lingering injuries to Scott Baker and Miles Mikolas — imagine that — the Texas Rangers will send a youngster to the mound on Friday night in Anaheim to face one of the best lineups in all of baseball.

Lisalverto Bonilla just turned 24 and is coming off his first big-league start that ended with his first big-league win when he tossed six innings and allowed just two runs on four hits against the weak-hitting Atlanta Braves.

In his second start on Friday night, Bonilla will be facing anything but a light-hitting team in the form of Mike Trout, Josh Hamilton, Albert Pujols, David Freese, etc.

Bonilla has a history — albeit brief — against the Angels, and it came just last week when the Rangers were swept by the Angels. In his two-thirds of an inning in that game — an 8-1 loss — Bonilla allowed three runs (two earned) on one hit and two walks while also striking out two batters for his only outs of the game.
