Sean Lee Takes Another Step Forward, Joins Team Drills

Lee hadn't participated in team drills since suffering a torn ACL last year in OTAs

Another week, another big step forward for Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee.

Lee is still on the road back from the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered on the first day of organized team activities last year and during this week’s minicamp, he began taking part in team drills for the first time since the injury. He only started participating in seven-on-seven drills during the final week of OTAs.

To get into football shape you have to play football,” Lee said, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. “This is part of getting into shape for training camp and being a part of the [organized team activities and minicamp] I definitely wanted to be involved as much as I could be.”

So far--knock on wood--everything’s been going according to the Cowboys’ stated plan to bring Lee back gradually, a process that requires coaches to temper his enthusiasm at points.

“We progressed properly [in rehab] where we went from jogging to running to cutting to know I’m with the team and we’re going to do [individuals], we’re going to do seven on seven and we’re going to do more 11 on 11, two-minute drill,” Lee said. “We had a plan that we followed and it’s gone well.”
