NFC East Watch: Cruz “80 Percent” Sure He'll Return to Giants

Victor Cruz hasn't played in any of the Giants' last 26 games

New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz hasn’t played a game since Week 6 of 2014, but he’s not looking for (or expecting) a change of scenery. Cruz was asked by USA Today’s For the Win this week to give a percentage chance that he’ll return to the Giants.

A percentage chance? About 80 percent,” Cruz said.

Cruz was arguably the Giants’ biggest offensive star that last time he was playing regularly, but Odell Beckham Jr. has since lapped him in terms of popularity. A torn patellar tendon ended his 2014 season after six games, and he missed all of last year with a calf injury.

The Giants will very likely look to rework Cruz’s deal. He is due a base salary of $7.9 million in 2016, and carries a cap hit of just south of $10 million, but the Giants also know better than any other team the kind of player he can be when healthy. That knowledge could keep Cruz in New York.
