John Garrett Lands Job With Beavers

According to the Corvallis Gazette-Times, Oregon State will hire John Garrett as its new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Garrett, of course, is the brother of Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, and used to coach on the Cowboys staff until he was let go before going to Tampa Bay to serve as the wide receivers coach. Garrett had a quiet NFL career as a player, playing for Dallas, Cincinnati and Buffalo. He was on coaching staffs in Dallas, Cincinnati, Arizona and Tampa Bay and has previous college coaching experience at Virginia.

He did a little bit of everything in his time on the Cowboys staff, coaching tight ends and also serving as a scout and a personnel assistant.

Oregon State dropped its opener in 2013 to FCS powerhouse Eastern Washington before reeling off six straight wins. Then, the Beavers lost their last five regular-season games before bouncing back to win the Hawaii Bowl over Boise State.
