Gurode Hosts Kickball For Charity

Dallas Cowboys' four-time Pro Bowl center Andre Gurode held a series of fundraisers this past weekend benefitting his charity, Center of Attention, Inc.

The three-day event, "Hiking to Higher Heights," began on Friday night with a Casino Royale gala, and continued on Saturday with a celebrity kickball game at Sportsplex at Valley View. The kickball game was followed by a wrap party that night and a celebrity brunch yesterday morning.

As for the game itself, Patrick Crayton emerged as the star, kicking the game-winning home run in the final inning. The disgruntled receiver has yet to make an appearance at Valley Ranch this offseason as he seeks a trade, which led to Babe Laufenberg, who emceed the event, to quip,“Now we know what Patrick Crayton has been doing! He’s been working on his kickball game.”

Gurode's charity, Center of Attention, Inc. offers shelter and education programs for homeless or under-served children, aged 10-17. With the weekend in the books as a resounding success, Gurode joins a number of teammates, including Bradie James and Jason Witten, who host their own charity events.

"It's always been important to me to reach out," Gurode said, per ESPNDallas. "You never know which child you can change by helping them. My entire family is involved in this, I'm pretty excited about it."
