The parade of running back prospects running through Valley Ranch continued into Dallas Day on Friday, when the team hosted--among other local prospects--Boise State running back and Frisco Liberty product Jay Ajayi.
A projected second round pick, Ajayi went to dinner with Cowboys’ running backs coach on Thursday night before working out for the team on Friday.
“They wouldn’t be taking me to dinner if they weren’t interested,” Ajayi said, per Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
At the Combine, Ajayi posted a 4.57 in the 40-yard dash, a 39-inch vertical leap and 19 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. On Friday, working out on the Cowboys’ practice field, he apparently impressed the Dallas staff.
“They said I had a great workout,” Ajayi said. “I talked to coach [Jason] Garrett and Stephen Jones and the running backs coach afterward.”
