Cowboys Add DL Jerome Long

Long was drafted in the seventh round by the Chiefs in 2012

The roster spot left vacant by veteran defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove, who was released last week just a month after being signed, didn’t stay vacant for long.

On Monday, the Dallas Cowboys added Jerome Long, a seventh round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs last year. The Jacksonville Jaguars scooped long up off of the Chiefs’ practice squad last December, but he was released back on April 29.

Long played with the Cowboys’ 2013 second round pick, tight end Gavin Escobar, at San Diego State. He was invited to the Cowboys’ rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis, but wasn’t brought into the fold until Monday.

As Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas points out, Dallas now has 13 defensive linemen on the roster.
