Followers of Southern California's In-N-Out Burger chain couldn't wait to wrap their lips around the cheesy, greasy patties at the newest location in Allen and Frisco.
Yes, North Texas, you can finally grab a Double-Double Animal Style at the first two In-N-Out locations.
Locations in Frisco and Allen opened at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, earlier than the 10:30 a.m. they'd announced earlier in the week. In-N-Out rep Carl Van Fleet told NBCDFW the North Texas opening was probably the biggest turnout they've ever seen. Even rain hasn't thinned the crowds, which still lined the sidewalk around the building during the lunch hour.
In an e-mail to NBCDFW, Van Fleet said other North Texas locations are "at least several weeks, if not a few months, away" from opening.
The west-coast burger chain will have some fierce competition in the area, with Denver-based Smashburger looking to expand after investment from Cowboys offensive line player Mark Columbo and others brought the chain to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Columbo told NBCDFW they plan on opening a Frisco location of the chain in the near future.
P.S. Guess we'll have to update our Nonstop Foodies episode about North Texas burgers, huh?
